yindyamarra

duty of care, take things slowly, and respect

This project is an approach to how we could design more aligned with First Nations perspectives and knowledge. This proposal is a starting point, which requires further collaboration with the local First Nations Community and organisations that might utilise this space. I chose ‘yindyamarra’, a Wiradjuri word which speaks to my history, my Ancestors and a way of life which guides my choices about the design and proposal to make them respectful, thoughtful, and considerate to Country and Community.

This space is a place for sharing, a place of celebration and a place for learning. It is a place for refuge from the harsh urban environment and place for repair and connection. This place is for any First Nations people to come here and learn more about cultural practices, protocols and stories. This place is also a place for gathering to meet other First Nations people, to meet Elders and Knowledge Holders to teach and support people through their cultural journeys.
